Palaeoinfo for Palaeofans

In the past, it has been extremely difficult - if not impossible - for non-scientists to find out any information about South African prehistoric life. This is because of the political past of the country (you can read more in SA's Fabulous Fossils) and because lack of funding for the science of palaeontology in South Africa has made it impossible for scientists to take time off their research and lecturing schedules to produce material for the mass market.

TIME WORLD is working to fix that situation, and will be bringing you easy-to-understand information on a regular basis about a wide variety of prehistoric life. Called UNEARTHING INFORMATION, this feature looks in detail at life forms from the fossil collection of the Bernard Price Institute for Palaeontological Research* at the University of the Witwatersrand and from South Africa's palaeontological record in general.

If you print the UNEARTHING INFORMATION pages on a regular basis and file them, you will build up an Encyclopaedia of South African Prehistoric Life.

Remember, all the information has been checked by the scientists at the Bernard Price Institute for Palaeontological Research at Wits, so you can be sure it's correct and up-to-date.

The first creature to feature in UNEARTHING INFORMATION is a dinosaur (because everybody loves dinosaurs).
