Fossilising word

When something fossilises, it changes very slowly into rock or stone. Did you know that you can change words, too? It takes millions of years to make a fossil, but it only needs some clever thinking to change one word into another, completely different word.

The Earth turns bone into rock. Try doing the same thing here. Start with the word B O N E and, by changing one letter in the previous word each time, turn it into the word R O C K. There are clues to help you. Remember - only change one letter in the word above each time.

B O N E

_ _ _ _A close relationship or friendship

_ _ _ _A group of people that make music

_ _ _ _What we live on

_ _ _ _A small road, often in the country

_ _ _ _Decoration on clothes or tablecloths

_ _ _ _When you do not have something

_ _ _ _You need a key for this

R O C K

Now try something else - a bigger job, so it's a lot harder and it's going to take longer. You're starting with more than just an ordinary little bone this time - you've got a whole S K U L L. And what are you going to turn it into? S T O N E, of course. Good luck!

S K U L L

_ _ _ _ _What one does when sneaking

_ _ _ _ _Lovely animal, but not a nice smell

_ _ _ _ _What spirit! What verve!

_ _ _ _ _This is a physical punishment

_ _ _ _ _It's bright, and it's hot

_ _ _ _ _A fish to fear when you're all at sea

_ _ _ _ _A piece for you, a piece for me

_ _ _ _ _Coastline, not necessarily sandy

_ _ _ _ _What the sun did in the past

S T O N E
