The Prime Origins tour leader for the group is an English-born archaeologist, Tony Manhire, a specialist in the field who through the University of Cape Town has been studying rock art and the indigenous environment in the Cederberg for the past 20 years. The reserve is a National Heritage Site that has been billed as the "world's largest open air gallery", containing 125 pristine rock art sites.
